Radio Nova →
Radio Nova is a super fun internet radio station a former co-worker of mine started listening to when he was in France. Perfect to put on while you work.

Wire&Twine: Arrows →
“Whenever the Wire&Twine Team encounters the need for arrows in a project (and what project doesn’t require arrows?), they reach for a little file they’ve kept over the years with a bunch of the pointy things in vector format. So today they combined all of their arrows (along with some vector cursors) and posted them on their blog for everyone. Feel free to use in whatever project...

Stargate Studios reel Whenever I hear people say they don’t like CG or they think it always looks fake, I think to myself, ‘you don’t like the CG that you’ve noticed.’ This reel from Stargate studios proves my point. CG is used all the time for mundane purposes where it’s next to impossible to spot, like making a street on a soundstage look longer, or adding a...

Moff's Law
A brilliant comment from the consistently high-quality io9 (Profanity warning, for those who are opposed to that sort of thing): “Of all the varieties of irritating comment out there, the absolute most annoying has to be “Why can’t you just watch the movie for what it is??? Why can’t you just enjoy it? Why do you have to analyze it???” If you have posted such a comment, or if you are...

"What have you been thinking about?"
The best smalltalk question according to Aaron Swartz. Even it might come across as pretentious, it seems better than the alternative of just going through the motions of “where are you from? where do you work?”. He makes a pretty thorough argument for it on his blog, totally worth checking out. Thanks to Dustin Tinney for tipping me off to this!

Typography Without Ink
From the Hoefler & Frere Jones blog (H&FJ can do no wrong, at this point): “This weekend, I replaced a DVD player that finally conked out after eleven years. Whatever delight I once took in acquiring a new piece of electronics has long been eclipsed by the responsibilities of dealing with its byproducts: its packaging, thankfully limited to recyclable cardboard and biodegradable...

– Dan Savage, in response to the question: ‘Why are men such douche-drizzling assholes?’ Makes me smile every time.

Why I don't like "Basic Maths"
I have a lot of respect for Khoi Vinh. His subtraction.com is a beautifully designed website. I’d say it’s really the seminal blog layout, often imitated but never equaled. So I was excited when he released another blog layout, this one a WordPress theme called “Basic Maths.” Like subtraction.com, Basic Maths is strictly aligned to a grid, and is built using nothing but...

Check it, dudes: All new tumblr!
I just redid my tumblr to match my main site. It uses the awesome (and free) Titillium as the primary display font (powered by @font-face), jQuery for the fading effects, and Tumblr magic for the rest. Motivated by the always-great bobulate.com, I decided to give myself more room to write about the things being posted, and also make the design friendlier towards all-text posts. What do you...
